How a festival veteran of 10 years prepares for music fests
Preparing for a music festival is not the same as preparing for a simple party or concert. The cute little outfits and shoes you usually wear to go out will absolutely NOT suffice in the cruel, hot festival environment. Festivals are literal war zones and you could literally DIE if you don’t properly prepare.
Okay, so maybe you won’t die (although it’s not unheard of for people to die at festivals), but you will most definitely struggle, get hurt, or get sick, if you don’t properly prepare.
I’ve attended over 25 festivals over the past decade, all around the USA, as a regular attendee, a volunteer, crew and staff. Seeing festivals from so many perspectives has made me intimately familiar with the ins and outs of festivals.
The following is everything I’ve learned, many things which I learned the hard way!
GEAR
WRISTBANDS:
Technically, the only thing you REALLY need is your wristband. If you forget everything else, as long as you have a wristband to get in the festival, you’ll likely be okay because everything will either be for sale or available from someone else.
